Common Wrist injuries |
 |
The wrist is made up of two bones of the forearm and eight carpal bones (trapezium, trapezoid, scaphoid,
lunate, pisiform, capitate, triquetrum and the hamate). There are many ligaments that connect these bones
to each other. Types of wrist injuries include wrist strains, sprains and broken or fractured wrists.
A wrist strain is a tearing of the muscle fibers in the area surrounding the wrist. A wrist sprain is an injury
to the ligaments, usually there is only a partial tearing of the ligaments. However in severe wrist sprains,
there may be a complete tear of the wrist ligaments. A broken or fractured wrist means there is a crack
or break in one or more of the bones of the wrist. |
