Since 1987 it has been possible for service personnel, whether on or off duty,
to claim compensation from The Ministry of Defence under certain circumstances for personal injury or clinical negligence.
Whether you are bringing a claim for personal injury against a civilian defendant or against the Ministry of Defence (MOD),
the rules are the same.
For discrimination claims, there is no ceiling on awards made, for unfair dismissal claims, the maximum payable is £56,000.
You do not have to leave the Armed Forces before you can claim, even if the accident was abroad,
